Home, warm and safe

“Far over the Misty Mountain cold”

She shifted, closing the fur lined coat closer to her body, taking in the musty scene that is distinctive of the coat’s owner.

It enveloped her whole being, taking her mind to a memory far away.

It smelt like home.

For home is where she is journeying towards…

She looked up, the show lightly covered the magnificent tall trees that surrounded her and her companion as their feet sank deep in the snow.

She kept her eyes firm on his back as she followed him through the forest, she could tell that he was cold from how fidget his shoulders were.

And yet, he gave her his coat.

An overwhelming sense of guilt and warm engulfed her.

She tried to protest though she knew he would never take his coat back after he offered it to her.

They came to the end of the forest and she closed her eyes, taking in the fresh air around her, filled with the scent of pine and snow.

She opened them once more and saw that the clouds had parted away from the concealed sun, though the winds still blew its cold breeze.

She turned towards him and met with a gentle smile.

And she felt warm.

So Small

He was suffocating

No matter how much he tried to free his mind, his haunting thoughts would not leave him.

No matter how much he studied the intrigue designs on the heavy double doors that stood in front of him, his mind simply wouldn’t be at ease.

Even his brother’s jokes were falling on deaf ears.

He was standing next to his brothers and yet he felt so far away from him.

No one can be able to understand.

His uncle might have, once upon a time, a long time ago.

But he had his father with him at that time.

He had no one, for his uncle was the only father he’d ever known.

And yet, he could not confine to him.

Because it is his uncle whom he should meet on the other side of the door.

An heir to the throne of this great kingdom, and yet he had never felt so small.

The Beauty in the cafe

The cool autumn breezed kissed her flushed cheeks, the scents of herbs and spices lingered in the air and tickled her nose. She was a sight to behold.

A beauty whose solitude seemed like a sin as she sat alone in a crowded local café, her long booted legs crossed as her eyes shimmered as if made of precious stones.

A shadow fell on the book she held open in front of her making her look up to meet with deep chocolate brown eyes.

The stranger smiled; his long black hair was swept back against his tanned forehead and strong cheekbones.

His eyes fell on the plate on the table she was occupying. “just a plain croissant?” He asked “out of all the exotic selections, why chose that?”

She smiled knowingly and spoke “the best things in life the simplest ones”

1st Love of a girl’s life

She sat there in front of her Vanity mirror while her hand maiden brushed her long dark hair. You could feel the beating rhythm of her heartbeat and she feared that it’s beats could be heard by the other woman in the room.

She was dressed in the finest materials of white and blue; her family house colors for tonight’s event.

::: Her debut ball :::

She felt a wave of emotions overwhelm her, a ball of excitement mixed with a bundle of nerves.

She heard the door knock and beckoned for the footman to enter. He presented her with a beautiful decorated box; the blue and white details engraved on it took her breath away.

She looked up at the footman once more

“A gift from your father” he informed her when he saw the question her eyes.

Her heart swelled with happiness as she gazed upon the beautiful white and blue box.

Papa always knew her best and she knew that no knight in shining armor tonight would match the first love of her life, the man who protected her from her demons of her childhood and she had idolized all of her life.

She closed her eyes and smiled “Thank you Papa” she thought, somehow knowing that it would read her father.

Chocolate

The sight of her curled up in a tight ball broke his heart.

He felt helpless; to not be able to bear the pain that she was feeling.

He looked down at the delicacy sitting on the tray in his hand.

He knew that he doesn’t possess the power to take it all away but at least he can help ease the pain away… Slowly, but gradually.

He made his way towards her and touched her shoulder while balancing the tray in the palm of one hand.

She looked up at him and he smiled before offering her the tray.

She smiled back.
